My Egg Skelter

I received lovely gifts from my generous family over Christmas, but I think this just might be my favourite. It's an Egg Skelter, and it's a fantastic way to store fresh eggs.

The freshest eggs are put at the back of the row (where Nudge's tiny light brown egg is sitting) and the older eggs go to the front (Nella's dark brown egg is there). This way, you always know which eggs to eat first. And it looks great!

(We believe the egg in the middle is another double-yolker from Nudge the Wonderchicken.)

Oh, I love this contraption!!

We just got our first double yoker the other day, and we've had chickens for about 6 years now. It's the coolest thing to see, but as ds#1 reminded me, they would not be viable chicks. Nothing like having a 12 year old who brings you back to reality. ;}

Have a wonderful 2009! xo

The egg skelter rocks. No more writing on eggs.

Can chickens not have identical twins? I know nothing about breeding chicks.

Happy New Year to you!

That is so cool. I can't wait for fresh eggs again. I'm seriously considering buying hens to leave at my friends...

Heidi, I know you've probably told me before, but are you not allowed to have hens where you live now?

I'll have to see if I can find one. We have 16 hens, most of whom are pullets just starting to lay. It would be nice to have this contraption to keep the household-use eggs separate from the to-sell eggs!

Gayle, they are worth every penny. And with the exchange rate as it is, buying things from the UK is great value these days.
