Go Nella!

At least we think it was Nella. Someone left an egg in the run this morning.

It's pink!

Thank you (I say like I laid the egg myself). :) I have the smartest chickens!

Hi Teresa -- almost! It became egg noodles last night. :)

Oh, what fun...a pink egg! I'd almost hate to have to scramble it!

Hee, Joanna!

Diane, I am proud to report that the egg was not scrambled. It was poached and thoroughly enjoyed.

Oooh, egg noodles! I've been meaning to make those. Our chickens have quit laying for now (waaah). We actually had to *gasp* buy a dozen eggs last week. It pains me to buy eggs. :} I'll have to wait until we have our own eggs again...

Oh dear. Buying eggs? Are your girls mostly purebreds?

I'd say half and half: half are "mutts" and half are purebreds. When they start molting, there's no talking egg laying with them. ;}

We have a couple of young hens which will, hopefully, lay well through the winter. The older hens are approaching 3 to 4 yrs old now, so their laying will decline, even if if they weren't molting.

We have mutts, too. They're young enough to skip the moult this year. Next year should be fun -- four naked birds!
