Salt Bar Success!

The babassu salt bars worked out very well. I followed the recipe I posted earlier, kept my temperatures cool, and had no problems. Well, no problems until it was time to take the soaps out of the moulds. That bit wasn't as fun.

I've scented these with plumeria.

  6. Thank you so much, everyone. I can't believe I stressed so much over trying this. It's very easy.

Joanna, you can easily use coconut oil. You'll probably want to superfat the soap 15-20%. I superfatted mine at 20%.

  13. Wow...they look really nice. What did you use for the blue color? Did you hot process these or Cold process -oven?

  14. Thank you Kim!

Sarah, thank you! I used a colourant called 'indigo' because it always turns out greener than I expect. I made these using the regular cold process method. I don't think the bars gelled at all.

  16. I'm not sure where to find it in the US. From Nature with Love has it, but it's organic and very expensive. Maybe Columbus Foods? I know they carry lots of things and their prices are quite good.
