Ruby and Alice have moved out of the Eglu and into the larger hen house. An empty Eglu can only mean one thing -- new hens! Meet Olive (front) and June (back).
Olive is a cream legbar and lays green eggs. June is a light sussex who should lay a sort of cream-coloured egg. She's quite young, though, and probably won't start laying for another month.
And so our flock is complete. We have four hybrids and four pure breeds which means we'll have lots of eggs all year round. Yay!

Such pretty hens!
I'm working on my chicken yard! Yay! Spring chickens for me!
Woo hoo! We expect lots of photos. :)
They are soooo cute! Are you kids continuing to name the hens or did you name these two?
We have 8 hens too, of varying ages, and we get enough eggs for ourselves and to share with friends most of the year. :)
Thank you, Teresa! My son named June and I named Olive. We take turns naming them.
Eight seems like a great number for a flock. Did you ever have problems introducing new girls to the flock?
