Hitchhiker

I spent the morning in the garden picking fruit -- apples, pears, plums, and a few blackberries. The haul was pretty good, perhaps five kilos of fruit. I'll be making jelly with it later today.

While sorting through my bounty, I noticed this little guy creeping along the edge of the box I'd used for carrying the fruit.

For once, I didn't have to run for the camera to get a wildlife shot. :)

Cute! I'm a sucker for unusual wildlife shots. We like snails (except on our veggies); they have such personality for invertebrates. ;)

This wee guy was smaller than my pinkie nail -- and really cute! I have no idea how he ended up where he did, unless he was on some of the fruit, but that would mean he'd climbed a tree!

That is the TINIEST snail I've ever seen! How cute!

He was pretty teeny. I put him in some ivy between two fences. He'll be safer from birds there.

My parents have a tree in Vancouver that snails seem to like to climb (must be some snail olympics we're not aware of), but it must have been harder for this little guy. ;)

Snail Olympics! I will be amusing myself with thoughts of this at work today. :)
