Jammin'

I'm jam crazy. Jelly crazy, too! Today I made this blueberry jam plus a raspberry-violet jelly. It's time to restock my jam jars as the old damson tree in the back garden is about to fall over with fruit.

Oh yes, raspberry-violet jelly sounds absolutely charming! I have not ever tasted violet petals jammed. But I have eaten rose petal-jam and it was nice and fragrant.

Thanks! I hate to brag, but it's really lovely. The violet is quite subtle, and the raspberry is strong. I could sit down and eat it with a spoon.

I'd like to try a rosehip jelly soon. It's supposed to be fantastic.

Mmmmm, homemade jams and jellies!! And you have your very own tree to pick from...icing on the cake! The raspberry violet sounds amazing.

I just got back from the farmer's market and am up to my ears in peaches and blueberries. I should have some yummy jellies soon too = )

Are the violets just the ones growing in the yard? Or are these different kinds of violets in Scotland? They look soooo wonderful!

We're going to get some grapes from our friend's mom and then I'll make some grape jelly. You've inspired me!

Yummy! I have soooo many jams and jellies in my cupboard, I haven't made any (other than strawberry freezer jam) in a few years! Yikes!

Heidi -- I miss good peaches from back home. We used to get Chilton County peaches. SO lovely!

Teresa -- I didn't use real violets as I'm afraid of poisoning myself. :) I used violet essence. My next project will be a blackberry-chai jam, if the blackberries ever ripen. I understand they need sun for that. It's in short supply here this summer.

Elizabeth -- Is freezer jam easy enough? I'd give it a go.

Your blog is fantastic! Your jams look delicious. Also, your HP tutorial is one of the most hilarious I've seen! And helpful, of course. I'm going to try it if I ever get to make soap again...

Thank you, Amber! :) I hope you get to make soap again soon.

Oh, I didn't think violets were poisonous! I seem to remember Martha Stewart using it for her edible sugared flowers (along with nasturtiums, and something else).

Teresa,
I'm sure they're really not. I'm just scared of eating flowers! ;)
