So I've been thinking about more room and happiness, and I'm 99% sold on the Eglu Cube. It's similar to my Eglu, but quite a bit bigger, and it comes with a wider run, so the hens have more space to move about. I have my eye on a bantam trio as well as a couple of marans, so the extra space would be put to very good use.

It isn't as cute as the Eglu, but it's still a nice-looking piece of kit.
That is soooo cool! I bet I could talk dh into chickens if we had one of those.
ReplyDeleteHeidi, I'll sell you my old Eglu. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is a really terrific design. Too bad dh would balk at the price (we've seen ads for them in Backyard Poultry, Hobby Farms, and other homesteading magazines).
ReplyDeleteI soooo envy you!
How wonderful to hear that the new space is working out for you!
Teresa, I bet they're horribly expensive there with the shipping and customs charges.
ReplyDeleteHow many layers do you have?
We have 9 layers and 1 rooster...would need a pretty big Eggloo for all of them. :)
ReplyDeleteTeresa, the one in the photo can hold 10, but I have seen people talk about having 12-15 roosting in there. I guess when the chickens are asleep, they don't really care.
ReplyDeleteWe still haven't decided on a final number of hens. Do you sell any eggs?
I'll take it! ;0) Hmmm, I wonder what shipping would be like from the UK?
ReplyDeleteJust kidding of course. My husband would have a heart attack... lol
ReplyDeleteHeidi, I wouldn't dream of scaring your DH like that! :)
